GreenGroup at a glance
We are a story of transformation
GreenGroup began its journey in 2002 in Buzău, Romania, with a bold vision: to turn waste into valuable resources and build a true circular economy in Southeast Europe.
From a single plant, GreenTech, the first PET plastic recycling facility in Romania, GreenGroup has evolved into a Central and Eastern European leader in the circular economy. Today, the group brings together 11 companies across Romania, Lithuania, and Slovakia, operating across the full recycling and resource management chain: from collection, sorting, and recycling to re-manufacturing, OIREP and EPR compliance, industrial waste management, and professional cleaning services. Our expertise covers PET recycling and polyester fiber production, PET strap and rPET, glass, plastics, and WEEE, as well as tailored waste management solutions for businesses.
Since 2016, GreenGroup’s growth has been supported by Abris Capital Partners, a leading private equity fund dedicated to ESG transformation. With their backing, we have accelerated our expansion, strengthened our capabilities, and reinforced our role as a benchmark for circular economy integration in Europe.
Today, GreenGroup is more than a recycler – it is a circular economy integrator, connecting people, companies, and communities to transform environmental challenges into opportunities for growth. Guided by our promise, Leading Renewal. Together., we continue to innovate, invest in technology, and deliver solutions that make a real difference for industries, people, and the planet.
At the origin of this journey stands Clement Hung, a visionary Taiwanese entrepreneur who in 2002 founded GreenTech. With passion and determination, he built an industry from the ground up and laid the foundations for what would become GreenGroup.
Until his passing in 2018, Clement Hung guided the group with the same pioneering spirit, leaving behind more than a company, he left a legacy of courage, innovation, and responsibility. That legacy continues to inspire us today, as GreenGroup carries forward his vision of transforming waste into lasting value.
