GreenGroup Launches Its First Sustainability Report: Analyzing the Present, Building the Future
GreenGroup has released its first integrated sustainability report, showcasing the commitments and achievements of its 11 companies, active in recycling, environmental services, PRO (producer responsibility organization), and waste management. This document reflects the group’s performance and challenges, while also serving as a roadmap for the future GreenGroup is building alongside partners, clients, and communities.
GreenGroup voluntarily reports according to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), providing transparency and detailed insights into its impact on the transition to a circular economy. The report integrates results from Romania, Lithuania, and Slovakia, illustrating how each company within the group contributes to this shared goal.
2023 Performance Pillars
Since its establishment in 2002, GreenGroup has become a benchmark in the recycling industry, processing over 350,000 tons of waste annually and employing more than 2,200 people dedicated to the circular economy. The report highlights significant achievements across its divisions:
GreenTech: A European leader in PET recycling, processing 150,000 tons of plastic bottles annually into reusable materials such as PET flakes, PET straps, and rPET granules, supporting the transition to sustainable packaging and innovative textiles.
GreenGlass: Recycles over 200 million glass bottles annually, transforming them into 99.99% pure glass cullet used to produce new bottles, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.
GreenWEEE: Recycles waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) with a recovery rate of 93%, reintegrating recycled materials into the economy.
Verdum: Provides smart industrial waste management solutions with “zero waste to landfill” processes, offering on-site treatment, optimizing transport, and reducing emissions.
Key Initiatives in the Report
The report details the following critical initiatives:
Transition to Renewable Energy by 2026: GreenGroup is implementing measures to eliminate dependency on fossil fuels by purchasing green energy and installing photovoltaic systems in strategic locations, significantly reducing carbon emissions from energy consumption.
Increased Use of Recycled Water: Redesigning industrial processes to increase the use of recycled water from 5% to 20%, minimizing the impact on natural resources.
Expanding Recycling Capacities: Developing and modernizing infrastructure to process higher waste volumes, addressing increasing market demands, and supporting the circular economy.
Energy Efficiency Plan: Introducing a plan to reduce utility consumption by 3% annually, supported by well-defined performance indicators and strategic measures.
Through its specialized divisions—GreenTech, GreenWEEE, GreenGlass, Zalvaris, Verdum, SIGAD, ExpertCleaning, GreenResources, ECSO—GreenGroup establishes itself as a visionary leader in implementing circular economy principles. GreenGroup not only processes hundreds of thousands of tons of waste annually but also actively contributes to creating an economy focused on efficient resource reuse, pollution reduction, and environmental conservation.
Every type of recycled material—whether plastic, glass, electrical equipment, or industrial waste—is reintegrated into a sustainable cycle, reducing the need for primary resources and supporting sustainable development.
GreenGroup: Beyond Recycling
Every ton of recycled material represents a victory against pollution, an opportunity for innovation, and a step forward in the transition to a sustainable economic model.
Educational projects, such as workshops for students and awareness campaigns, create an informed generation ready to adopt sustainable practices. Partnerships with local authorities and non-governmental organizations facilitate access to modern recycling infrastructure, integrating the circular economy into everyday life.
